Architecture and Design, (kind of) REthought

LaN Live Parameters Workshop

SMD has been collaborating with Luis Fraguada and Monika Wittig from LaN/Live Architecture Network on the preparation of the workshop that they are going to teach during the 23-29 of August, at the facilities of Iaac (Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia).

The workshop will consist on extracting data from the environment using a sensor kit and then, work with it using the gHowl components for Grasshopper, written by Luis Fraguada. The Course will be focused on how to manage all the field data and how to connect the LaN Sensing kit with Grasshopper through Arduino, Processing and the gHowl set of components.

SMD, along with Felipe Pecegueiro have been working together to produce the first version of the LaN Sensing Kit. An Arduino board drives all the sensors and connects via usb to a computer to collect all the ambient data. This very first version of the field sensing kit includes a light sensor, a temperature sensor, a microphone, a pressence sensor and a fancy electromagnetic field sensor. All the circuit is mounted on a plywood case made for the occasion.

More info about the workshop and other subjects can be found on LaN website.
