DS design Lab

SMD has started a collaboration with Designio 3D to create together a kind of research laboratory. This new entity will explore the contemporary ways of design and will be committed to apply this research into education, by organizing courses and workshops.

DS design Lab is going to organize courses and workshops involving the digital and the physical world. We have developed together a CNC Milling Machine that will allow us to expand our fabrication possibilities and bring ourselves a little bit closer to the material and physical world. The idea is to jump off the screen and be able to work in both directions: from digital to physical and backwards.

With our CNC Milling Machine we are not only going to digi-fabricate projects, but we are also going to carry out an actual research over form and fabrication, and even fabrication itself.

The updates, works and workshops of the DS design Lab research team will be posted on SMD website and on the DSdesignLAB tumblr.
